I'm looking to buy a small kit that visiting drummers could use. Local pawnshop has a 4-piece (Bass, two mounted toms & floor tom) TAMA Rockstar DX set.

Chrome hardware.made in Japan.not sure of the sizes (didn't want to show TOO much interest yet). This is ONLY four drums.I'll get a good snare later and I've been buying up DW hardware for a decent set for a year or so. Two main question subjects: Is this Rockstar set better than a Pearl Export Series set? This was the other set I could get pretty cheap.

Can you tell me where the 'DX' lines up in the Rockstar line. There's little or no good drum history out there on the Internet. Is a 'DX' better or worse than any other Rockstar or what's the differences? Any TAMA Rockstar history or tips on identifying this as a decent set within the TAMA Rockstar line would be appreciated!

Marshall Jcm 2000 Dsl 50 Schematic. ALSO.I NEED INFO FAST! The Tama Rockstar and Pearl Export are in hte same line of kits, they are both student intermediete level drums and are te equivalents of each other. I think the DX series were made a few years before I started to play drums, I am not sure what it means, but my guess is its a abbreviation for 'deluxe' so it was probably the deluxe version of the rockstar at the time, but it will probably lack some of the features of the current rockstar's, such as the Starcast Mounts and the road series hardware. Basically those drums will be good enough for what you plan to use them for, they might need a bit of tlc, some new heads etc but they wont set you back much, Tama make some of the best drums in the world Id pick a set of Rockstar's over a Export anyday. Originally posted by tangman Also, Im not sure about the rockstars a few years ago but with the current rockstars the difference between them is usually only the finish, for example the Rockstar Custom EFX is just a Rockstar Custom but with a plastic wrap finish instead of a laquer. I think this would be considered a 'plastic wrap'.certainly not laquer.
